What is a Webhook?

A webhook, also referred to as a user-defined HTTP callback, is a common term in web development.

webhook is a process that utilizes custom callbacks to expand and modify websites or apps. The technology provides data in real time to other applications. Webhooks are triggered when certain events occur on the specified URL. A few examples of these events are viewer comments, shopping cart updates, and changes in subscription.

Because webhooks relay real time information from one source to another they are an incredibly efficient tool for companies to use.
